Bavaria
First knowledge on Bavarian duchy can be referred to the 6th century. At this time Bavarian state formed out of Stamm der Agilofinger. On the banks
of the river Izar (in the area of today Munich) there emerged the first Bavarian settlement. In 788 Karl the Great toppled down the ruler of Bavaria
Tassilos III and annexed the territory to his empire as a province. In 1214 Pfalz am Rhein was annexed to Bavaria. Similar to other duchies,
constituting the Holy Roman Empire, Bavaria was rather an independent state and provided quite a substantial influence on European policy, took active
part in European Wars of 17-18th centuries. During the war of the Spanish Succession Bavaria was on the side of France against the English and Austrians.
They also participated in the Thirty Years’ War and War of the Austrian Succession.
